Marco Keersemaker is a Senior Mining Engineer and consultant with over 30 years of international experience across the full mine lifecycle, from exploration and feasibility studies through to operations and closure. His expertise spans bauxite and a range of other commodities, with a strong focus on mine planning, resource modelling, operational optimisation, and cost benchmarking.
At Aluminpro, Marco has served as Competent Person for mining on JORC-compliant resource and reserve reporting for major bauxite operations, including the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG). He has also contributed to due diligence for large-scale projects in Brazil and supported alumina refineries with reserve evaluation and compliance analysis.
Marco’s operational background includes senior roles with BHP Billiton, where he held positions such as Mine Manager and Development Manager on major bauxite projects in Guinea and Suriname. His experience includes leading large multidisciplinary teams, managing complex field operations, and delivering “best practice” project outcomes in front-end mine development and execution.
In addition to his consulting work, Marco is a part-time lecturer at the Technical University of Delft, where he teaches courses in mine feasibility, health and safety, and operations management to MSc-level mining engineers.
He holds a Master of Science in Mining Engineering from Delft University of Technology and an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management.
